GUTS!

I just finished reading a book named GUTS! (written by Kevin and Jackie Freiberg). When I got to a point in the book I suddenly came to realize that what runs down or runs up businesses is not the economy or the type of business but the leaders and their people. GUTS! Is a must read for managers, leaders, and entrepreneurs in all facets of life – business, organizations, religious, academic etc. I also recommend it for upcoming business leaders and entrepreneurs and any youngster who aspires to do something great. I read a book about a year ago – The 7 habits of highly effective people (by Stephen Covey) that talked about the supremacy of the character ethic. This according to Covey is the bane of effectiveness. It pointed out that the society has deviated from concentrating on these set of fundamental values to the personality ethic. Contrasting the two, one can define the character ethic to be those values that we all know (whether we acknowledge it or not) to be basic – Integrity, Humility, Servitude, Love etc. These are the fundamental building blocks of true success and happiness.
